How to Use Browser Bookmarks to Save Your Favourite Websites

Browser bookmarks are one of the most useful features on any computer, yet many people never use them. If you find yourself typing the same website address over and over, bookmarks can save you a lot of time.

What Is a Bookmark?

A bookmark saves the address of a web page so you can return to it with a single click. Think of it like a physical bookmark in a paper book — it marks your place so you do not have to hunt for it again.

How to Save a Bookmark

In almost every browser, the process is the same:

  • Open the page you want to save.
  • Look for a star icon in the address bar at the top. Click it.
  • A small box will appear. You can change the name or just click Done.
  • That page is now saved.

You can also press Ctrl+D on Windows or Command+D on a Mac as a shortcut.

How to Find Your Bookmarks

Look for a menu called Bookmarks or Favorites at the top of your browser. Click it and you will see a list of everything you have saved. Click any item to go straight to that page.

Keeping Bookmarks Tidy

After a while, bookmarks can pile up. Here are a few tips to stay organized:

  • Delete bookmarks you no longer use. Right-click the bookmark and choose Delete.
  • Create folders. In the bookmarks menu, look for an option like Add Folder. Put similar sites together — for example, one folder for recipes and another for news.
  • Rename bookmarks to something easy to remember. Long website titles can be confusing.

Bookmarks on Your Phone

Your phone’s browser works the same way. Look for the three-dot menu (usually in the top or bottom corner) and tap Bookmarks or the star icon. Many browsers can even sync bookmarks between your phone and your computer automatically when you are signed in to the same account.

Once you start using bookmarks regularly, you will wonder how you managed without them. It is a small habit that saves real time every day.
